My baby girl turned 7 yesterday. Seven. I cannot believe it has been that long since we carried this little person home from the hospital and thought to ourselves, what are supposed to do now...they really let us bring this baby home?! It has been the most amazing 7 years of my life. Nana has shown me what life is really about. Through her, I have experienced true, unconditional love.
She had no school yesterday, lucky duck! So we hung out with family all day, went out to lunch, and had her birthday dinner in the evening. My child does not like cake, strange, yes I know, so I made her a giant cookie. That in itself was an adventure. I have never made one before and of course I choose her actual birthday to test it out. It expanded, more than anticipated and pieces started falling off the edges and burning on the bottom of the oven. Smoke started seeping out of the oven. It was no good. BUT....after fixing the problem, the cookie turned out to be pretty darn good. Woo-hoo!! She enjoyed it and I was happy with the finished product.
Today was her birthday party with her school friends. We decided to do a bowling party and what I good idea that was! There were no worries about cleaning up or decorating or having people over. It was all contained there and it was FUN! There were 11 little girls (yes, we are crazy, thanks for asking!) and the giggles and screams took over the place. They bowled, laughed, ran around, and had a blast. They ate pizza, bowled some more, then we did cupcakes/cookies and presents....then bowled some more. She really did have a good time and there is nothing better than seeing your child happily celebrating their special day.
