It's a Brand New Day

Both of my babies are in school now! What a strange feeling it is as a parent to take both your kids to elementary school and walk away. Yesterday morning we dropped Nana off in her class, where she was happy to have the choice of sitting next to her best friends. I took pictures and eventually got the "another picture mom?" look, the paparazzi stopped there and we left her to get situated in her 3rd grade class! Then off to the kindergarten room where I wondered what kind of scene was in store for us. With Nana it was a nightmare, crying and begging, it was horrible for all of us. I was anxious about Cel's reaction. We got there and she found her seat, sat down and started doing puzzles. She got up and got a little scared and teary eyed for a moment and then after a hug and some reassurance, she was fine. Happy as could be. We walked out of there, looked at each other, and wondered if that really just happened =)  It was great.
They both had fantastic days, liked their teachers, and were excited to go back today. I watched them cross the crosswalk, hand in hand this morning. It was one of the cutest moments ever. I'm so glad this school year is off to a good start!
